Here I am. Here we are.

Hineni & Co. | Mahir began with a simple belief: the ability to create is not determined by the way a person communicates, learns, moves through the world, or accesses support.

There are writers, poets, artists, storytellers, and creators whose work may never reach a printed page—not because the creativity isn’t there, but because traditional publishing processes were not designed with them in mind.

We believe the process can change.

Not the creator.

Why Hineni?

Hineni is an ancient Hebrew word meaning “Here I am.”

It is a declaration of presence—a willingness to step forward and be seen.

That idea sits at the heart of our work. Creativity already exists in the person. Our role isn’t to manufacture it, improve the person behind it, or speak for them.

We don’t give people a voice. We make room for the voice that’s already theirs.

Why Mahir?

Mahir carries the meaning of being ready, skilled, or proficient.

For us, Mahir reflects something important: the creator does not arrive empty.

They bring their own abilities, experiences, imagination, interests, ways of communicating, and ways of creating. Support begins by recognizing what is already there.

What We Do

Hineni & Co. | Mahir is a small, mission-driven publishing house created to remove barriers between a creator’s work and the printed page.

Our first publishing branch, Presence, is supported publishing for creators who encounter barriers to traditional authorship. Support is individualized around the creator—their goals, choices, communication, creative process, and vision for their book.

As Hineni grows, other publishing paths may develop. What will remain constant is our commitment to authorship, dignity, autonomy, creative ownership, and meaningful choice.

Who’s Behind Hineni?

Hineni & Co. | Mahir was founded by Christina Bolen, an author and advocate for person-centered supports.

Through both her professional and personal experiences, Christina has seen how often people are defined by the support they need rather than by what they have to contribute.

Hineni grew from a different question:

We encountered that question when a young gentleman expressed a desire to have the pages of poetry, he’d written published and bound into a book.

Understanding that dream, Christina didn’t waste time setting the process in motion. After all, she believes everyone’s words matter.

What began with one creator and one dream became the beginning of Hineni & Co. | Mahir.

The question wasn’t whether his words were worthy of becoming a book.

They already were.

The question was how to remove the barriers standing between the pages he’d created and the book he wanted to hold.

Here I am.

There is power in being able to say those words—and in having the space to share what comes next.

Here we are.
