Hineni
hee-NEH-nee
Here I am.
There is something only you can say.

Your words already matter.
Hineni is an ancient Hebrew word meaning “Here I am.” It is a declaration of presence—a willingness to step forward and be seen.
Why Mahir?
Mahir (mah-HEER) is a Hebrew word meaning ready, skilled, or proficient. In Psalm 45:1, it appears in the phrase et sofer mahir—“the pen of a ready writer.”
For us, Mahir begins with a simple belief: the ability to create is already there. A creator may communicate, write, dictate, draw, or tell a story differently, but different does not mean less. Our role is to recognize the skill, creativity, and ideas already present—and bring our own skill and care to removing the barriers between the creator and the printed page.
Mahir isn’t something we make a creator become. It’s something we recognize.
At Hineni & Co. | Mahir, we believe creativity belongs to everyone. We help remove barriers between a person’s creative expression and the printed page, providing individualized support to help their poems, stories, art, and ideas become books they can hold, share, and call their own.
We don’t give people a voice. We make room for the voice that’s already theirs.
Presence
Supported Publishing
Some stories reach the page differently.
Presence works alongside creators who face barriers to traditional authorship. We provide individualized support to help poems, stories, art, memories, and ideas become professionally produced books—while protecting what matters most: the creator’s voice, choices, rights, and authorship.
Your work. Your choices. Your rights.
At Presence, support never means taking over. Every creator has the right to be recognized as the author of their work, to make meaningful choices about their book, to understand the publishing process, and to decide what personal information they share.
Your work belongs to you. Your voice remains your own.
Support without substitution.
How Presence Works
Every book begins with the creator.
There is no single way to create a book. A creator might bring us handwritten poems, typed stories, drawings, photographs, dictated memories, or an idea they need support bringing to the page.
From there, we work together.
Discover — We learn about the creator, their work, and the support they want.
Create — We help prepare the creator’s work for publication without replacing their voice.
Choose — The creator makes meaningful choices about their book, including its design, title, artwork, and presentation.
Approve — Nothing moves forward until the creator has had an opportunity to understand and approve their book.
Publish — We help turn the finished work into a professionally produced book.
Celebrate — Because becoming a published author deserves to be celebrated.
